Activities for all seasons

A wide range of leisure activities can be enjoyed in St. Märgen. The luxury holiday flat lies only 250 m from the Pfisterwald nature discovery park with its numerous recreational and leisure facilities.
In winter, as a result of its location at an altitude of between 850 and 1,100 metres above sea level, St. Märgen offers excellent conditions for winter sports enthusiasts or those simply seeking a relaxing break. A romantic walk through the snowy forest is an experience not to be missed!

Walking

Enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and valleys and explore this delightful and varied landscape with its forests, waterfalls, meadows, pastures and centuries-old farmhouses. The local walking association (the Schwarzwaldverein) ensures that all footpaths, including long-distance ones, are very well signed. Information boards enable you to design your own routes. And don’t miss the nature trail in the forest near St. Märgen.

Natural swimming pool

St. Märgen’s natural swimming pool uses no chlorine; in summer it is the perfect spot to cool down in the water or sunbathe on the surrounding grass.

Adventure playground

By a stream on the edge of the forest is the lovely adventure playground, which is made mainly of wood. In summer, St. Märgen also offers a holiday programme for children.

Jogging & Nordic walking

St. Märgen has a specially designed jogging track with a springy covering of wood shavings – perfect for both jogging and Nordic walking. Instruction in Nordic walking is also available on a regular basis upon request. A leaflet describing a variety of suggested routes is available from the Tourist Information.

Cycling and mountain biking

Whether you enjoy powering up hill and down dale on a mountain bike or exploring your surroundings by bike at a leisurely pace, St. Märgen has a wide range of cycling routes to offer. E-bikes can also be hired locally.

Riding

Explore the Black Forest on horseback on the trusty, sure-footed Haflinger horses belonging to Gasthaus Sonne Neuhäusle, a guesthouse in St. Märgen, or take lessons in the outdoor arena. In the nearby village of St. Peter the riding school run by Michaela and Josef Wunder-Frey provides a range of riding facilities including instruction.
